My additional notes and remarks about this Natural Ruby:
This is a fine translucent pure medium red natural untreated Ruby.
The color is the classic and much-prized pure red with no modifiers such as pink, purple, or orange. This color is sometimes referred to as "pigeon blood red".
The color is even and the polish is very fine giving the ruby a high luster.
The ruby is translucent, not transparent. Translucent indicates that light can be visibly transmitted through the Ruby to the unaided eye, but that objects cannot be seen through it. I have included an image with the listing to demonstrate this.
The ruby has some internal white striations that are visible to the unaided eye in some lighting conditions or at some angles.
The color and overall appearance of the ruby will vary with lighting and other viewing conditions. I have tried to capture this with some of the listing pictures.
A Ruby of this size in this quality is rare. It will make a genuinely stunning ring, pendant, or brooch.

From GIA Ruby History and Lore https://www.gia.edu/ruby-history-lore :
“...Early cultures treasured rubies for their similarity to the redness of the blood that flowed through their veins, and believed that rubies held the power of life….”
“...Ruby is one of the most historically significant colored stones…..In the ancient language of Sanskrit, ruby is called ratnaraj, or “king of precious stones.”...”
“...Desire for ruby is just as great today as it always has been. As a symbol of passion, ruby makes an ideal romantic gift. Consumers are drawn to the lush color because it also signifies wealth and success…”.

Excerpt from Wikipedia at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruby :
Physical properties[edit]
Rubies have a hardness of 9.0 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness. Among the natural gems, only moissanite and diamond are harder, with diamond having a Mohs hardness of 10.0 and moissanite falling somewhere in between corundum (ruby) and diamond in hardness.
