Offered for sale here is a previously consumer-owned 1.51 carat loose natural round brilliant cut diamond with a GIA report (aka certified).
The GIA report states that it is a natural diamond with an Si2 clarity and a treated Fancy Vivid Green Yellow color. Si2 clarity is typically considered to be eye-clean by diamond professionals, but it might be possible to see an inclusion with your unaided eye with very careful examination.
The diamond has been treated by a high-pressure and high-temperature (HPHT) process to alter the color at the atomic level. More information about this process is provided below.
The treated color is designated by the GIA report as Fancy Vivid Green-Yellow. Vivid is the highest color intensity grade that the GIA assigns. This is a permanent color. This is a very rare color even among treated diamonds.
This is a stunning and unique diamond. It would be very difficult to find its equal, treated or not treated. The vivid green-yellow color of this diamond is rare even among treated diamonds. The color intensity of this diamond is the very definition of vivid. Mesmerizing. Remarkable.
The diamond is beautifully cut and polished. This is a truly dazzling and exceptional diamond. A non-treated natural diamond comparable to this in all aspects would likely be priced in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
To be clear, this is a natural diamond, made by the earth, and mined from the earth. The only enhancement is of the color using a high pressure high temperature process developed in the late 1990s.
The process uses pressures of up to 70,000 atmospheres and temperatures of up to 2,000 °C (3,632 °F). See Wikipedia at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamond_enhancement.
Definitive identification of HPHT stones requires laboratory examination with advanced technologies and instruments.
The Gemological Institute of America ( GIA ) is widely considered the world’s foremost authority on diamonds. The GIA describes itself as a public benefit nonprofit institute founded in 1931.
The GIA "About" information and more can be found on its website at https://www.gia.edu/gia-about .
